These laundry hampers are handwoven by more than 100 rural Wolof women. Crafting baskets allows women to earn income from the comfort of their community. Using abundant and renewable cattail stalks bound with salvaged plastic strips procured from a local mat factory, the women hand-weave each of these hampers.
Because this is a handcrafted item, each will vary slightly.
*By law, containers shipped from Africa are fumigated. Other than the fumigation process, the fibers are not treated with any other chemicals.
